Who we are - About Medusa Group

If you’ve ever been to visit your Slovak brothers and sisters, chances are you’ve eaten at one of our restaurants or partied in our clubs. We’ve got more than 45 of them. But first things first. Let’s start from the beginning…

In the beginning there was passion, bright ideas, and the desire to stir things up. We set off on this elaborate journey in 2003, when we opened our first Medusa venue in the historic city centre of Bratislava. It was a gastronomic groundbreaker. A modern restaurant by day, and by night a dance bar that keeps on going till the early morning light. It was tough in the beginning, but in time Medusa became a hot spot and the place to be.  This success motivated and inspired us to introduce another attractive concept two years later - Primi. It’s been going strong for more than ten years, with three locations in Bratislava, one in Košice, and one in Vienna. As time went on, we continued to open new restaurants and establishments. The stellar Rio, famous not only for its fantastic lava stone steaks; the unbridled rock bar Barrock; the elegant nightclub Le Club; the Kubu Italian restaurants; the legendary Trafo club; the modern Presto canteens; the fresh and healthy Mercado restaurant; and the Klubovňa beer pubs – 7 of them in 3 cities.

At first we focussed on our native Bratislava because, well, we know our way around this city. J Which is why it was such a huge thing for us when we opened the Medusa Restaurant & Club in Vienna in 2012. It offers international fusion cuisine, a lounge serving up the best cocktails, and a nightclub. All in one place. Three years later, a Primi restaurant moved into the neighbourhood.

We arrived in Prague in 2014 with our Presto canteens. And then a year later we really got our groove on and opened 12 new establishments in 3 countries! For instance, we welcomed the Bratislava branch of the world-famous wagamama franchise, and the Italian trattoria La Pala.

With so many locations, we thought it would be an excellent idea to reward our loyal customers. So in early 2013 we launched our loyalty programme, MedusaCard. It now has more than 115,000 members. We currently employ over 1,400 people, and we even have our own event division. Not enough? Read more about Medusa Group here.
